The NGO Women Environmental Programme Togo (WEP-TOGO) participated brilliantly in the Climate Chance Africa 2025 Summit held in Cotonou, Benin, on October 27 and 28. This major event brought together more than 600 stakeholders to co-create solutions to climate change, with the ambition of amplifying the voice of African territories at COP 30, currently being held in Belém, Brazil.

The main objective of its participation was to promote WEP-TOGO's local initiatives and strengthen the alliance around specific themes: Adaptation, Renewable Energy, and Biodiversity.

Energy and Agroecology: WEP-TOGO Shares its Expertise

WEP-TOGO shared its expertise with participants, demonstrating the essential role of women in a just and inclusive transition in West Africa.

  • Access to Renewable Energy in Rural Areas

Under the leadership of Ms. Solange ADJIVON, WEP-TOGO presented its successful experiences to an audience of approximately 200 people, focusing on:

Reducing the arduousness of women's work through the deployment of renewable energy solutions,

Improving food security and incomes by using these energies to process local agricultural products.

  • Sustainable and Regenerative Food Systems

Our Kékéliva agroecological farm was featured. We showcased our successes in regenerative food systems with a dynamic exhibition stand highlighting the products processed by the women farmers of the Kékéliva farm school.

  • The Strength of the West African Network

The Women Environmental Programme (WEP) network demonstrated its strength during the joint Pitch Corner with WEP-NIGERIA, WEP-TOGO, and WEP-BURKINA FASO, reaffirming our regional commitment to effective climate solutions.

  • Concrete Results and Partnerships

WEP-TOGO's participation in the Summit generated major strategic results:

High visibility for the products and best practices of the Kékéliva agroecological farm school; Sharing of successful experiences with our models for women's access to renewable energy and water management; Strengthened collaboration with WECF, Yokoumi, and WEP Nigeria to solidify our future actions. The Summit highlighted the importance of effectively leveraging and promoting our actions to maximize the organization's visibility and encourage new partnerships.

The Climate Chance Africa 2025 Summit was a pivotal experience. It allowed WEP-TOGO to reaffirm its role as a key grassroots actor for a just and inclusive transition.
